Hamilton Road, Felixstowe wins CIHT Streets Award
29th June 2011
Suffolk County Council's work to transform Hamilton Road, the main shopping street in Felixstowe, into a low-speed shared space street, has been awarded the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation (CIHT) annual award for streets. Selected from 150 entries, the award recognizes the bold move to create a simple streetscape to cope with all the functions of a busy street whilst coping with vehicles and deliveries. The street was transformed with a very limited budget within a tight timetable. More details on our "Projects" pages.
Ben Hamilton-Baillie acted as consultant for Suffolk County Council for the introduction of shared space, and provided strategic advice for the County, District and Town Councils on the project.
